12% indoor humidity with two humidifiers going. Makes breathing slightly complicated for me. But, I’m doing better than last year!
-20F outside this morning. So thankful the wind is not blowing! Spring is just around the corner! Of course, then there will be mud… Ugh!

My youngest and his horse need prayers. He found Chrissy on her back, feet straight up. She is now biting at her side and acting dazed. For those who do not know, this is very much not good. The vet can’t be there for another two hours. My son is dealing with this on his own as I am spending time with the grandkids and Bob is working (he has been notified). It is no fun dealing with an emergency like this on your own. We could really use your prayers.
Thank you all for your prayers. Chrissy needed to be euthanized. Home and grieving.

We said good-bye to our equine coach, Chrissy, Thursday afternoon.
She was 21 yrs old and had been with us for 12 years. She was humanely euthanized for colic complications after many hours of holistic and emergency medical intervention.
Our neighbors Fluit Farms Excavating & Scrap were able to bury her on Friday. That was an interesting experience!
At first, we thought the excavator would not fit through the gate, so we had them attempt to create a hole by digging over the fence. However, with the severe sub-zero temperatures we have been having, the ground ice layer extends well over a foot down. Even with using a large propane torch to soften the ground, it was taking a very long time to do anything more than scratch the surface.
They decided to retake some measurements and managed to squeeze through the gate with their smallest excavator and found that the ground under the manure pile that has been there all winter was easy to work with. Perfect!
I have never been so thankful to have a manure pile!
We were offered an extremely generous “friendly neighbor” price for the work, which we gratefully accepted.
Chrissy was an excellent coach and is deeply missed. ![]()
